Title | Year | Rating |   | Comments |
Abre Los Ojos | 1997 | 5/5 |   | Very impressive. There was a remake entitled "Vanilla Sky", haven't seen it but I don't recommend substituting as it looks to be very hollywooded-out. |
Back to the Future | 1985 | 5/5 |   | :-) |
The Matrix | 1999 | 5/5 |   |   |
Star Wars Trilogy | 1977 -thru- 1983 |
5/5 |   | Collectively these movies are a 5. Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. I think what many non-fans that don't care to see the original Star Wars trilogy fail to understand is it's not really a sci-fi space-movie, it's really a story about a father and his son. Brilliant. |
American Beauty | 1999 | 4/5 |   |   |
Antitrust | 2001 | 4/5 |   | This is an example of a great (accurate!) computer hacker movie, not fucking Hackers (the joke of the century). Everything is on point technically here, making it great for us computer geeks, and the story/action is good enough for non-geeks to enjoy. Reminiscent of the real world and a certain company, lets hope it never gets this bad in real life. |
Big Fish | 2003 | 4/5 |   |   |
The Butterfly Effect | 2004 | 4/5 |   | I thought it might suck, but it was awesome. I only saw the director's cut which I hear has a different, way more crazy ending, explaining why this movie wasn't as popular as it should have been in the theaters. My jaw was dropped at the end of this movie. |
Fahrenheit 9/11 | 2004 | 4/5 |   | This movie is one sided (leftist propoganda) and just doesn't seem quite finished. It is very important, however, and does a good job showing what is really going on (for the most part) in America & Iraq. It shows just how shady & dumb George W. Bush and his cronies are. All Americans should see this movie, but also check out 59 deciets in Fahrenheit 9/11. |
Friday | 1995 | 4/5 |   |   |
Ghost World | 2000 | 4/5 |   |   |
Kill Bill Vol. 1 | 2003 | 4/5 |   | Action packed & hilarious. |
Meet the Fockers | 2004 | 4/5 |   | Very funny |
Pumpkin | 2002 | 4/5 |   | Numerous minor fixes would have made this great movie better. |
The Royal Tenenbaums | 2001 | 4/5 |   |   |
The Virgin Suicides | 1999 | 4/5 |   |   |
Almost Famous | 2000 | 3/5 |   |   |
The Battle of Shaker Heights | 2003 | 3/5 |   |   |
The Breakfast Club | 1985 | 3/5 |   |   |
Charade | 1963 | 3/5 |   | I mean, Audrey Hepburn is so damn cute. |
Clockwatchers | 1997 | 3/5 |   | Parker Posey looks really cute in this movie. |
Closer | 2004 | 3/5 |   |   |
Cold Mountain | 2003 | 3/5 |   |   |
Cube | 1997 | 3/5 |   | Cool! On the verge of a 4. |
The Forgotten | 2004 | 3/5 |   | Pretty cool. |
Four Rooms | 1995 | 3/5 |   | My favorites are the last two stories. Very funny and fun those are. |
The House of Sand and Fog | 2003 | 3/5 |   |   |
I, Robot | 2004 | 3/5 |   | Yet another "bots trying to take over the world" movie, but not bad. |
I Heart Huckabees | 2004 | 3/5 |   | Funny and enjoyable. |
I Shot Andy Warhol | 1996 | 3/5 |   | Well it was interesting enough to prompt me to research Valerie Solanas and even read the Scum Manifesto, only to realize that Valerie Solanas is a fucking idiot and get pissed off that I wasted time reading the piece of shit. Not necessarily her fault though - good example of what happens when daddy fucks his little girl. |
The Last Samurai | 2003 | 3/5 |   |   |
Lolita | 1962 | 3/5 |   |   |
The Manchurian Candidate | 2004 | 3/5 |   | A strong 3, borderline 4. |
The Matrix Reloaded | 2003 | 3/5 |   | Story starts to get confusing. Cool scenes, camera work, and beautiful display of cinematic technology, but an unnecessary sequel. |
Mean Creek | 2004 | 3/5 |   |   |
Meet the Parents | 2000 | 3/5 |   |   |
Ocean's Eleven | 2001 | 3/5 |   | Not extremely detailed in explaining/showing how certain things were possible, but enjoyable. |
Outfoxed | 2004 | 3/5 |   | Everybody should see this movie. Fuck you Fox News Channel. |
Revolution OS | 2001 | 3/5 |   | Very good documentary on the Free Software/Open Source movements. Think I'd be bored watching this if I wasn't a computer geek, yet I've shown it to a couple people who aren't computer geeks but have a bit of interest as to where Linux comes from and they enjoyed it. |
Short Circuit | 1986 | 3/5 |   | Loved this movie when I was a kid, not as good now as it was then, but still fun. |
Spider-Man | 1977 | 3/5 |   |   |
Spider-Man | 2002 | 3/5 |   | Didn't follow the comic book schematics of Spider-Man or the Green Goblin (and Goblin could've been less cheesy/childish). Physics weren't very good. Otherwise not bad. |
Spider-Man 2 | 2004 | 3/5 |   | Better than the first, but why weren't Dr. Octopus's arms attracted to that magnetic mini-sun sucking in even cars from around the city? Spidey losing his powers because he didn't feel like being a super-hero anymore was also nonsense. Good story. Could've teased us more with the Mary-Jane relationship but they gave us what we wanted to see, nice! :-D |
The Terminal | 2004 | 3/5 |   | Didn't expect it to be very good, but it was! |
There's Something About Mary | 1998 | 3/5 |   | How cute is Cameron Diaz! |
View from the Top | 2003 | 3/5 |   | Movie isn't bad, and Mike Myers is funny. |
Walking Tall | 2004 | 3/5 |   |   |
28 Days Later | 2002 | 2/5 |   | {Dear Hollywood: How about you make even more zombie movies.} And it wasn't scary. |
The Birth of a Nation | 1915 | 2/5 |   | Very well done for the first real movie, but it's really fucked up that people thought this distorted & racist view of history is what really happened (this makes the score low). |
Chinatown | 1974 | 2/5 |   | Very slow and boring. Maybe it just can't keep up with my 21st century conditioning. People keep calling this one of the few "perfect movies" but I fail to see why. "And there are no mistakes in it" - oh yeah, like a 1970s handgun shooting at a car speeding far away and just happening to get a death shot, {thats very likely.} |
Constantine | 2005 | 2/5 |   | Don't even bother wasting your time tring to think about/analyze this movie because it doesn't make much sense, and who really cares. I have a feeling even if you know everything about the bible you'd still find it riddled with errors. It started out cool... |
Kill Bill Vol. 2 | 2004 | 2/5 |   | Let's bring down the comedy and tone down the action, then have long non-comedic conversations. Sorry, should've been cut into one movie. |
The Ladykillers | 2004 | 2/5 |   |   |
The Matrix Revolutions | 2003 | 2/5 |   | What was the point of these sequels? An extra two movies just to say "actually, we should work and learn to live with bots"?? And talk about not knowing how to end a trilogy. Very abrupt and unsatisfying ending (they should've watched "The Return of the King" and learned how to do it). Too bad for the first Matrix movie that they put these next two out. |
Mean Girls | 2004 | 2/5 |   |   |
The Missing | 2003 | 2/5 |   | Starts off good, but then gets boring and long. Had a good laugh when one of the deleted scenes on the DVD was the "extended version ending". |
Secret Window | 2004 | 2/4 |   |   |
Signs | 2002 | 2/5 |   |   |
The Stepford Wives | 2004 | 2/5 |   | Are these robots or women's brains rewired? If just brains rewired then how do they change boob size and malfunction and spin super fast and exhaust smoke? Erroneous movie. |
Troy | 2004 | 2/5 |   | Long and generally unsatisfying for me. |
The Village | 2004 | 2/5 |   | The concept is interesting (once you find out what's going on in this movie), but dumb because it would never work. I also couldn't believe that the end was really the end already, that pissed me off, plus other aspects. |
Godsend | 2004 | 1/5 |   | Teeeeeerrible!! The characters actions are nonsense, and the movie is riddled with errors. How is moving out of the city to a small town going to keep the fact that your son is a clone more of a secret?? |
Cabin Boy | 1994 | 0/5 |   | This was supposed to be funny? WOW! |
Spy Kids | 2001 | 0/5 |   | This is the worst movie I have ever seen. The special effects are absolutely horrible, terribly fake looking, storyline sucks, all the characters are annoying, the girl is an annoying too-much-of-a-tomboy, then the boy is such a pussy, they just aggravate me. I know there were tons more things I cannot recall that sucked. |
