Movie Ratings

Title Year Rating   Comments
Fahrenheit 9/11 2004 2/5   Not that good actually. Didn't learn too much I didn't already know, movie is very one-sided, jumped around a lot, some things didn't make sense or seem accurate, and it just didn't seem finished (and I hate Bush!). Interesting though because it's a big political "documentary" #1 at the box office right before an election.
Godsend 2004 1/5   Teeeeeerrible!! The characters actions are nonsense, and the movie is riddled with errors. How is moving out of the city to a small town going to keep the fact that your son is a clone more of a secret??
I, Robot 2004 3/5   Yet another "bots trying to take over the world" movie, but not bad.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 2004 2/5   Let's bring down the comedy and tone down the action, then have long non-comedic conversations. Sorry, should've been cut into one movie.
The Manchurian Candidate 2004 3/5   A strong 3, borderline 4.
Spider-Man 2 2004 3/5   Better than the first, but why weren't Dr. Octopus's arms attracted to that magnetic mini-sun sucking in even cars from around the city? Spidey losing his powers because he didn't feel like being a super-hero anymore was also nonsense. Good story. Could've teased us more with the Mary-Jane relationship but they gave us what we wanted to see, nice! :-D
The Stepford Wives 2004 2/5   Are these robots or women's brains rewired? If just brains rewired then how do they change boob size and malfunction and spin super fast and exhaust smoke? Erroneous movie.
The Terminal 2004 3/5   Didn't expect it to be very good, but it was!
Troy 2004 2/5   Long and generally unsatisfying for me.
The Battle of Shaker Heights 2003 3/5
Big Fish 2003 4/5
Cold Mountain 2003 3/5
Kill Bill Vol. 1 2003 4/5   Action packed & hilarious.
The Last Samurai 2003 3/5
The Matrix Reloaded 2003 3/5   Story starts to get confusing. Cool scenes, camera work, and beautiful display of cinematic technology, but an unnecessary sequel.
The Matrix Revolutions 2003 2/5   What was the point of these sequels? An extra two movies just to say "actually, we should work and learn to live with bots"?? And talk about not knowing how to end a trilogy. Very abrupt and unsatisfying ending (they should've watched "The Return of the King" and learned how to do it). Too bad for the first Matrix movie that they put these next two out.
The Missing 2003 2/5   Starts off good, but then gets boring and long. Had a good laugh when one of the deleted scenes on the DVD was the "extended version ending".
View from the Top 2003 3/5   Movie isn't bad, and Mike Myers is funny.
28 Days Later 2002 2/5   {Dear Hollywood: How about you make even more zombie movies.} And it wasn't scary.
Pumpkin 2002 4/5   Numerous minor fixes would have made this great movie better.
Signs 2002 2/5
Spider-Man 2002 3/5   Didn't follow the comic book schematics of Spider-Man or the Green Goblin (and Goblin could've been less cheesy/childish). Physics weren't very good. Otherwise not bad.
Antitrust 2001 4/5   This is an example of a great (accurate!) computer hacker movie, not fucking Hackers (the joke of the century). Everything is on point technically here, making it great for us computer geeks, and the story/action is good enough for non-geeks to enjoy. Reminiscent of the real world and a certain company, lets hope it never gets this bad in real life.
Revolution OS 2001 3/5   Very good documentary on the Free Software/Open Source movements. Think I'd be bored watching this if I wasn't a computer geek, yet I've shown it to a couple people who aren't computer geeks but have a bit of interest as to where Linux comes from and they enjoyed it.
The Royal Tenenbaums 2001 4/5
Spy Kids 2001 0/5   This is the worst movie I have ever seen. The special effects are absolutely horrible, terribly fake looking, storyline sucks, all the characters are annoying, the girl is an annoying too-much-of-a-tomboy, then the boy is such a pussy, they just aggravate me. I know there were tons more things I cannot recall that sucked.
Almost Famous 2000 3/5
Ghost World 2000 4/5
Meet the Parents 2000 3/5
American Beauty 1999 4/5
The Matrix 1999 5/5
The Virgin Suicides 1999 4/5
There's Something About Mary 1998 3/5   How cute is Cameron Diaz!
Abre Los Ojos 1997 5/5   Very impressive. There was a remake entitled "Vanilla Sky", haven't seen it but I don't recommend substituting as it looks to be very hollywooded-out.
I Shot Andy Warhol 1996 3/5   Well it was interesting enough to prompt me to research Valerie Solanas and even read the Scum Manifesto, only to realize that Valerie Solanas is a fucking idiot and get pissed off that I wasted time reading the piece of shit. Not necessarily her fault though - good example of what happens when daddy fucks his little girl.
Four Rooms 1995 4/5   Very funny and fun. My favorites are the last two stories.
Friday 1995 4/5
Cabin Boy 1994 0/5   This was supposed to be funny? WOW!
Short Circuit 1986 3/5   Loved this movie when I was a kid, not as good now as it was then, but still fun.
Back to the Future 1985 5/5   :-)
The Breakfast Club 1985 3/5
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi 1983 5/5   Oh what a great conclusion!! And what a great ending! :-) LOVE IT! Oh by the way, contrary to popular opinion, I'm not actually about Princess Leia in the gold bikini, I think she looks better and cuter in the first two movies, best is in that white snow outfit in Empire Strikes Back - thats what I'm all about!
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 1980 5/5   This is my favorite one.
Spider-Man 1977 3/5
Star Wars 1977 5/5   Slow start, but they develop the characters well during this time, and it just turns out great: the characters, the story, the feeling. I think what many non-fans that don't care to see the original Star Wars trilogy fail to understand is it's not really a sci-fi space-movie, it's really a story about a father and his son.
Chinatown 1974 2/5   Very slow and boring. Maybe it just can't keep up with my 21st century conditioning. People keep calling this one of the few "perfect movies" but I fail to see why. "And there are no mistakes in it" - oh yeah, like a 1970s handgun shooting at a car speeding far away and just happening to get a death shot, {thats very likely.}
Charade 1963 3/5   I mean, Audrey Hepburn is so damn cute.
The Birth of a Nation 1915 2/5   Very well done for the first real movie, but it's really fucked up that people thought this distorted & racist view of history is what really happened (this makes the score low).
